Bitachon Outing
I don’t go on a lot of “Mandatory Dates” with my wife like professionals say, but this one time, since we are shopping for Pe’sach anyway, I found a great deal on a Beachside Hotel where we check in. It was perfect! We walked on a sandy beach, warm ocean waves..etc. etc. When it came time to go to sleep, lying in bed I noticed that in the room above us, in the second floor, people were moving around furniture, scraping against the floor above my head.. Unfortunately, this scraping and banging noise continued and continued..Until 3 in the morning! At that point I decided that this will be going on until A’los Ha’shachar! So, with no other choice, (going out to politely ask the people to go to bed might get me in an unwanted altercation or worse), I decided to reach out to Ha’Shem. “Please Ha’Shem,” I pleaded, “I’m here in this situation, not for my ko’vod, rather for Pe’sach shopping and Shalom Ba’yas. I’ll say “Ai’n O’de Mil’vado” because You Alone are the “Kol Ya’chol”! If you can get these people to be quiet so we can go to sleep, I promise to write this Ma’aseh down for “Spring Hills” magazine. Right then and there, my wife announced, “They’re leaving!” and the noise ended and we went to sleep, waking up refreshed to catch Sha’charis. Rabbi Chaplian LTC Retired Asher Shlomo Ehrenpreis
