The Power of Positive Lying

Mrs. Leiberman’s* daughter called her up frantically to tell her that she had just lost something extremely important. Mrs. Lieberman told her, “You know, it was already found.” Her daughter said, “Are you serious? How do you know where it is?” Mrs. Lieberman answered her, “I don’t know. I know it’s where it will be found.” Her daughter said, “What is this, a joke?” She said, “No, this is how a Life with Bitachon told me to talk. I’m supposed to only speak positive lies, and that’s called having Bitachon; just say, of course, you already found it.” Her daughter said, “Mommy, you want me to lie? I can’t do that. I can’t lie. I’m too upset. I don’t know where it is.” Her mother said, “It’s okay. No problem. Mrs. Weitz* was looking for an empty apartment for her son and his family for Shabbos. She made many phone calls to all different people that she heard were going away for Shabbos, but none of the apartments were available. She thought to herself, “What should I do? I did so much hishtadlus, but I still didn’t find anything!” Then she thought, “I know! I’ll do the best hishtadlus,  I’ll leave it up to Hashem! I am not making any other phone calls.” Later on that day, one of her neighbors called her up and said, “You know, I just decided to go away for Shabbos. If you know anyone that needs my apartment, I’ll be happy to lend it out.” Mrs. Weitz told her neighbor, “I need it!” Hashem found the perfect apartment for her! Read more: Bitachon #60

R’ Bloch’s clicker for his car was not working. He tried this and that and then he said to himself that he must need a new clicker. He was about to go get a new clicker, but then he said to himself, “One second. Maybe I just need Emunah and Bitachon. Do I think you press a button, and the clicker works? Maybe I have to press the Emunah and Bitachon button.” He clicked the Emunah and Bitachon button, and the clicker started working! Therapy with Bitachon

R’ Klein,* a therapist was working with a child who had many, many delays. The parents weren’t seeing any progress. They said to the therapist, “We don’t understand. You’ve been working with our child for such a long time, but he’s still in the same place. There’s no progress and he still has so many delays, he’s so behind. The therapist said, “Okay, I’ll see what I can do.” He turned to Hashem and said, “Hashem. They think I’m the one in charge, it’s You and I’m leaving it up to You.” Later on that day, the mother said, “Wow. From one minute to next, he’s a different child.
