What a Truly Amazing Nation!

Dovid went shopping at a store. When he came to the cash register, he realized that he only had half the amount of money that he needed. So he asked the owner, “Do you want me to put stuff back? Do you want me to come back later with money?” The owner answered, “I want to be mochel the money.” A yid, just like that, was mochel money for another Yid! Even though his store is not a gemach, what wouldn’t a Yid do for another Yid! Such amazing chesed! [R’ Zevy Golombeck]   Read more: Hashem Povides, Am Yisrael Shteigs!

Hashem Loves Us!

Yeshiva Toras Chesed has a sprinkler system. Whenever something is smoking, it spritzes water from all directions. It puts out the fire right away. There was a fan that a bachur left on for a little too long and it was overheating. It made lots of smoke, triggering the sprinkler system and caused everything in the Yeshiva to get wet. They called the janitor to clean up the mess. The janitor said, “I see your G-d was watching you and protecting you.” He was cleaning the Otzar Sefarim and he saw that the sprinkler in the Otzar Haseforim did not work! If it would have, it would have drenched all the sefarim! It actually did spritz but it went straight to the floor and not to any sefarim!” Usually the sprinkler is supposed to spray on all the sides. The janitor saw that it was a nes! Instead of all the sefarim getting drenched, there was just a little puddle on the floor. Every other sprinkler spritzed from all directions and everything got wet! Hashem protected the sefarim and the tefillin! Nissim geluyim! [R’ Zevy Golombeck]   Read more: Parnasah is From Shamayim

Going in the Derech of Avraham Avinu

Baruch Keriger learns in Mesivta and they had an off-Shabbos. He and another nine bochurim made arrangements to go upstate. On Thursday, the plans fell through. The person who was going to host them realized that family was coming and he didn’t have any room for the 10 bochurim. They said, “Okay. Let’s go anyway! We’ll have Bitachon, and Hashem will work it out. We’ll have Bitachon, and someone is going to invite us for Shabbos!” They went Thursday night, and they had no place to go, so they slept at a hotel on Thursday night. She asked her husband what she should do. He said, “Well, we follow ‘A Life with Bitachon,’ and it says that Hashem is our loving, caring father. He took care of us up until now, He’ll forever take care of us. I’m not worried.” Right afterwards, there was a knock on the door. Is there Hashgacha Pratis during the 3 weeks?

Of course there is Hashgacha Pratis during the 3 weeks! There is something very interesting that we find in hilchos Tisha B’av. We sit on the floor, recite kinnos, don’t even greet each other yet surprisingly we omit tachanun; just like we find by the other moadim. Why is this so? The verse in Eichah (1:16) tells us, ‘מועד עלי ‘קרא. From here we see that Tisha Be’av is considered to be a moed and therefore just like with the other moadim we don’t say tachanun We can understand why in the future Tisha B’av will be a moed, but why even now does it already have the status of a moed? The Chasam Sofer explains that since our mourning is coming from hope, therefore, the Bais Hamikdash is still considered alive and it has the status of a moed! And a moed is a time when we come close and we connect with Hashem!

Bitachon Opens Bike Lock

R’ Chaim Gross* just bought a new bike lock. He set up a combination number and he locked the bike. Later on, when he was trying to open it, he realized that he had forgotten the combination that he had just set, and he didn’t know what to do. He was fiddling and playing with it, but it wasn’t opening. R’ Chaim’s wife made a suggestion: “I will sing Hakol Yachol.” He tried a code, but it still didn’t work.  So his wife said, “Oh, I probably need more Bitachon!”  She started singing again ‘Hakol Yachol,’ and halfway through, the bike lock opened up!!
