Daily Bitachon #1806

Daily Bitachon stories from the “A Life with Bitachon” hotline.  1806: This story was called in by Mrs. Shain. She was on the way to work, and she realized that she forgot to bring her lunch. She was thinking, “What’s going to be, I’m going to be hungry a whole day of work.” Then she stopped herself and said, “Who’s the One who takes care of me and prepares lunch for me? Do I think it’s myself? No… it’s Hakadosh Baruch Hu! He prepares lunch for me everyday. I’ll just go about my day and see how everything plays out.” When lunch time came, she was thinking, “How am I going to get my lunch?” Then she stopped and said, “Hashem is the Kol Yachol, He can do everything and anything.” While she was thinking these thoughts, her coworker turned to her and said, “I packed a double lunch today, two yummy delicious salads with tuna. Do you want one? I don’t know why I packed two today.” In no time, she got the best lunch, with the best service, better than ever! Read more: Daily Bitachon #1807

Bitachon Story of Healing

About three years ago, my daughter was born with a rare medical condition. She was hospitalized in the NICU for many months, undergoing many surgeries and treatment. When she finally came home, she came home with a lot of medical support. One such support was a g-tube. She did not know how to suck or swallow, and thus needed to be fed through a tube that went directly into her stomach to give her the vital nutrition that she needed. Our active goal was to teach her to eat and drink independently, and not need to use the g-tube. The problem was, that when she was in the hospital, she was on a breathing tube for many months, not allowing her to even be offered to suck from a bottle. Therefore, she completely lost her skill. If we’d put a drop of liquid on her tongue, she had no idea what to do with it. As a side note, we came to recognize that we take it for granted that when we put food or drinks in our mouth, we know what to do with it. We understand to move our tongue around our mouth to get the food in the right place. We realize what it means to chew and to swallow. There really are many intricate steps that take place in our mouths before our food gets swallowed, and it’s unbelievable that we all know how to! So, we were starting from the very bottom with teaching our daughter how to eat and drink. We went to tons and tons of therapy sessions. Each therapist gave us homework to do at home. The homework was so frustrating, that I felt I would explode! I would sit next to my daughter in her highchair, and present the food to her, in the manner that the therapist told me to do. Sometimes it was stimulating the mouth first, sometimes it was using a different type of spoon, or straw, or cup. It may have been changing the consistency of the food, or liquid. Always something else. But the aggravation, and frustration was to the next level. My daughter just wouldn’t comply! Nothing helped! She just drooled it out, spat it out, or just stared at me blankly! Sometimes, I just sat there in tears. Then, one day it hit me that this is just absolutely crazy. Here I am getting so aggravated because I am not seeing the results that I want. All I’m doing here is hishtadlus. The results are up to Hashem. I don’t need to get frustrated over not seeing results. That’s not up to me. So, I created a new routine for myself. I would set for myself a certain amount of time that I was going to feed my daughter for. I told myself that I am doing my hishtadlus, and after that, whatever the results are, are completely up to Hashem. I felt a new calmness. As I fed my daughter, I would sing, “Hakol Yachol”, and I added in some of my own words that “Hashem can make my daughter eat so well”. I felt like I did my part, and Hashem would do whatever He saw fit. I also said that when my daughter comes off of her g-tube, then I would let the Spring Hill Times know. It’s been a very long and slow journey. There was no miraculous immediate salvation. I continued with therapy, and more therapy, and more. I continued to have bitachon that one day she would get her g-tube out. My daughter made progress. She began swallowing small amounts of food, then larger, then thicker consistencies, then chewing, then sucking! We are so grateful to Hashem that just a few weeks ago, shortly after my daughter turned 3 years old, her g-tube was taken out! She eats and drinks completely by mouth! Her skill is not exactly up to par with where a typical three-year-old child is, but we are so grateful to be holding at this point! Thank You, Hashem, for guiding us through this journey, and for granting my daughter the skill of eating and drinking independently! (A Spring Hill Times Reader) Read more: Bitachon Story #411

A yid who lives out-of-town wanted to come to me for Shabbos. I told him he could come to me for the meals, but for sleeping he should find a different place. He said, “Thank you,” and made a few phone calls, but they each said that they’re not sure. It was already Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and he wanted to be there Thursday night, so he said, “Hashem, when I reach the highway, I want to get a phone call that I have a place to stay for Shabbos. I’m going with bitachon.” He packed up his whole car and started driving to the highway, having bitachon that someone was going to invite him. When he got on the highway, he got a phone call, “Are you still looking for a place? Sure, you can sleep by me.” It was right down the block from my house! Bitachon Education

Mrs. Lieder* was looking for something and she couldn’t find it, so she said, “I’ll sing Hakol Yachol.” Her little two-year-old said, “Mommy, I know what that means. It means Hashem is going to help you find it.” Mrs. Lieder asked, “How do you know?” The two-year-old said, “Because by Morah the CD player wasn’t working, so she told the whole class to sing Hakol Yachol and it started working!” The mother said, “Wow!” She didn’t even give this chinuch to her child, it was the Morah who gave it to her child, and she brought it home and said, “Mommy, I know what Hakol Yachol means. It means that Hashem will help you!” Read more: Bitachon Story #404
