“I’m going to rely on a miracle”

“I love the Spring Hill Times every single week. I try to print it out every week and read it to my class. I drive a Nissan Rogue, which I leased about a year and a half ago. I really did not know anything about the notifications. So I did not know that it doesn’t tell you when it needs an oil change. I waited and waited and I didn’t get an oil change. A couple of weeks ago, a notification came on that I have to stop the car because there was a problem with the oil filter. I figured that was the notification for the oil change so I went that Sunday to get an oil change in Lakewood. I brought my car to the place and as I’m there in the waiting room, someone asked me, “What do you do?” I told him that I work in Brooklyn, so he said “You drive so much, you must get an oil change once a month.” I said “No, actually this is my first time after driving my car for a year and a half.” So he said “Oh, okay, that’s interesting.” The mechanic who works there, came in wearing gloves on his hands and his hands were full of what looked like soot and mud. And he screams, “Whose Nissan Rogue is this?” I said “It’s mine.” He asked, “When was the last time you did an oil change?” I said, “I never did it.” He said, “Your car will never work again. I’m telling you right now, there’s nothing we can do. I’ll put oil in, but it’s probably not going to drive out of here. If it drives even further, it’s going to stop on the highway. It’s going to break down. Your car will never work again, I’m telling you.” And then he said, “The only thing that will help this work is a miracle. It’s not going to work.” So I said “I guess I’m going to rely on a miracle.” I sat in the waiting room thinking, “Hashem can do anything.” I said to myself, I’ve always been thinking that instead of using paraffin candles on Shabbos, I should really use oil, and it’s for an oil change, so next Shabbos that I’m home we’ll use olive oil for the candles instead of paraffin. I’ll try it for one week, and B’zchus this, my car should be fine. I went to the car. The guy behind the counter said “It’s not going to work.” I said “Okay,” and drove off. It’s been so far two weeks and my car is not saying anything, no notifications. My car is driving as if it’s a brand new car.” [A Spring Hill Times Reader] Read more: Bitachon #118

Bitachon Story of Peace and Salvation

A Yid in England owns a factory that produces candles. One day, he received an order from a store for 8,000 candles. It took him two weeks to produce that amount of candles. When he was done, he loaded it into the back of his truck and went to deliver it. When he arrived at the store, which was four hours away, the owner apologized and explained that he was in the middle of a financial crisis and couldn’t afford them, so he would have to cancel the order. The Yid said, “Okay” and left, instead of making a fight. He left a broken man – what would he do with the candles? On the way home, he stopped off at a park and pulled out the Chovas Halevavos he likes to have handy, and went through the whole Sha’ar HaBitachon. A non-Jew then came over to him and asked him what brought him there. He explained that he produces candles and that he was traveling with an order. The man was amazed and told him that he owns a store and needed 8,000 candles! He was willing to pay him a certain price if it would be ready in a few weeks time. The Yid asked him how much he would be willing to pay if he had them for him today. The man named a price which was even higher. He said, “No problem, please come to my van. I have it here with me.” He gave the man the candles, and got paid on the spot. Done deal. (Kav Hashgacha Pratis) Read more: Bitachon #113
